Rebecca Woodland, Ph.D., Program Director
Dr. Woodland is Director of Program Evaluation for the UMass Center for Educational Assessment. She leads evaluation and research projects that entail quantitative, qualitative, and network analysis methodologies, and currently serves as PI for, an NSF sponsored Research-Practice Partnership to advance culturally responsive, socially just computer-science curriculum. Dr. Woodland serves on the editorial boards of the American Journal of Evaluation, Evaluation and Program Planning, the SAGE Encyclopedia of Research Design, and SAGE Encyclopedia of Educational Research, Measurement and Evaluation, and is Vice-President of the International Network for the Science of Team Science (INSciTS). Dr. Woodland was awarded the prestigious Marcia Guttentag award for excellence in evaluation by the American Evaluation Association. Rebecca teaches EDUC 601P: Foundations of Program Evaluation, and EDUC 622M Program Evaluation Methods, as well as elective courses including EDUC 790: Social Network Analysis.
Becky Mazur, Ph.D.
Dr. Mazur is an educational researcher and evaluation specialist who uses qualitative, quantitative, and social network approaches. She has designed and implemented studies to investigate a variety of phenomena including system factors that support or constrain student learning outcomes, educational technologies, educator professional development, teacher support networks, instructional interventions for adolescent learners, and more. As an evaluator, she has worked with a range of educational and social service organizations to help answer key questions that shape programs and services. Her work has been published in a number of respected peer-reviewed journals including Educational Administration Quarterly, Evaluation and Program Planning, American Journal of Evaluation, and Educational Management Administration and Leadership. Becky teaches Program Evaluation Methods, EDUC 622M, Data Visualization and Facilitating Use in Program Evaluation, EDUC 634V, and Capstone in Program Evaluation Practice, EDUC 682C
Fred Zinn, M.Ed.
Fred is Associate Director for Digital Learning in the UMass Amherst College of Education. He is an expert in educational/instructional media design who helps faculty and educators improve learning through effective and creative use of technologies. As an experienced graphic designer and illustrator he shows others how to improve their data and research presentations. Fred teaches Data Visualization and Facilitating Use in Program Evaluation, EDUC 634V
Itza Martínez, Ph.D. is a research associate at the Collaborative for Education Services. She has a B.F.A. in Visual Arts Education from Manhattanville College, a master’s degree in teaching from Manhattanville College, and a doctoral degree in educational leadership with a graduate certificate in Teaching for Diversity and Social Justice. She has worked in K-12, graduate, and adult learning environments. Her work is focused on collaboration, leadership, critical dialogue, and social justice in curriculum development, design, and evaluation. She is a former middle and high school art teacher and administrator. Additionally, she has experience presenting at national conferences, and several publications, and conducted national and international work in English and Spanish. Itza teaches Capstone in Program Evaluation Practice, EDUC 682C, as well as the potential elective course: EDUC 678B: Social Justice Education Curriculum Design.
