Introductory vocabulary and definitions, descriptions of the dynamics of oppression at the individual, institutional, and cultural levels. Focus on developing personal awareness of social group memberships in relationship to two specific forms of oppression. Introduction to selected literature on two specific forms of oppression.

Introduces Social Justice Education including specific manifestations of systemic, institutional, interpersonal forms of oppression within systems of advantage based on social group categories such as age, race, ability, sexuality, gender, and socio-economic class. Class will be held online and will primarily be asynchronous with students required to attend 2 of the following 4 synchronous sessions:
Ending Youth Oppression: Friday, February 23, 2024, 1:30PM-5:30PM
Ending Racism: Friday, March 15, 2024, 1:30PM-5:30PM
Ending Classism: Saturday, April 13, 2024, 10:00AM-2:00PM
