Student Nutritionist Program
The Student Nutritionist Program (SNP) provides training, supervision, and opportunity for nutrition students to offer wellness-based counseling, nutrition education, and resources to the campus community. The program is overseen by a practicing Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. SNP is proud to offer credible nutrition information and services to our campus community. Trained Student Nutritionists are available to provide complimentary one-on-one nutrition counseling at several locations on campus throughout the academic year, as well as offer workshops and table at events.
Individual Nutrition Counseling
Any member of the campus community who is interested in meeting with a Student Nutritionist may sign up via the online sign-up sheet.
Student Nutritionists can help with a variety of wellness-based topics from general healthy eating and eating both on and off campus, to proper fueling for exercise, intuitive eating, health promotion and disease prevention, meal and snack planning, and hydration recommendations and tips. They are happy to answer your nutrition questions, offer dietary evaluation and recommendations, share evidence-based information, offer practical tips to help with behavior change and integration of nutrition practices into your daily life, and support you wherever you are on your nutrition journey.
Workshops & Events
SNP offers workshops on a variety of topics including general nutrition and healthy eating, intuitive eating, sports nutrition, nutrition for high blood pressure, fiber, and more! SNP also offers tabling at select campus events. If you are interested in scheduling a workshop, or having SNP join your next event, please contact studentnutritionists [at] umass [dot] edu (studentnutritionists[at]umass[dot]edu).
Program questions and inquiries about collaborations may be directed to studentnutritionists [at] umass [dot] edu (studentnutritionists[at]umass[dot]edu).
Training to Become a Student Nutritionist
Nutrition majors interested in applying for the SNP training must meet eligibility requirements and apply during their sophomore year for entrance the following academic year. The training occurs for one year (typically the student's junior year). Upon successful completion, students are invited to assume the Student Nutritionist role during their senior and, if applicable, graduate student years. Questions about applications and program details may be directed to Elizabeth Devine, SNP Director, at erdevine [at] umass [dot] edu (erdevine[at]umass[dot]edu).

Hailey Ficarrotta (she/her)
The topic of nutrition plays a vital role in our overall wellness, and is deserving of more recognition as a component of our daily lives. Food is at the center of our health, as well as our dinner conversations! Outside of nutrition, I love to listen to music, shop/venture into thrift stores, spend time with family, and watch good movies or shows with my friends.
Special Interests: intuitive eating, general healthy eating, sports nutrition, and clinical nutrition related to autoimmune and diabetes!
Katelyn Greene (she/her)
As nutrition majors, one of the first things we learn is that the general key to adequate nutrition and eating habits is variety and moderation. I strongly believe that this is the case and I want to give others the opportunity to see that too! I also strive to help debunk the misinformation about nutrition portrayed in the media and love hearing about other’s perspectives; asking and answering questions together! Outside of nutrition I enjoy spending time with my dogs, watching sitcoms (Friends and New Girl are my top choices at the moment), and finding new recipes to make and try!
Special Interests: medical/clinical nutrition, general healthy eating, intuitive eating, and any other questions/topics that come up!
Jenna Linehan (she/her)
Nutrition is one of the most important and most misunderstood concepts that is vital to our wellbeing. My goal is to encourage healthy eating and lifestyle habits that support not only our physical health, but also our emotional health – because if you don’t enjoy what you eat, what’s the point? Outside of nutrition I love to cook, exercise, go on walks with my dog, watch nostalgic tv shows, and spend time with family and friends.
Special Interests: General healthy eating, plant-based, intuitive eating, etc.
Caroline Moran (she/her)
My goal as a future dietitian is to promote balance and nourishment for an energized, happy life. I believe that food can and should provide satisfaction and joy—not just fuel. Outside of nutrition, I spend most of my time on nature trails, cooking/baking, reading, and spending time with friends.
Special Interests: General healthy eating, women’s health, and intuitive eating are my main topics of interest, but I am open to talking about anything!
Bri Tse (she/her)
From fueling our bodies, to bringing people together, to just bringing us pure joy, food plays a huge role in both our physical and mental health. I believe nutrition is a critical component in our overall wellbeing; I hope to help guide others through nutritional misinformation and provide the tools and knowledge for living a healthy and happy life. Outside of nutrition, you can find me either lifting at the gym, spending time with my friends, or trying a new recipe.
Special interests: Sports nutrition, plant-based nutrition, and general healthy eating.
